Fire damages house in Courtenay; no one was home

No one was home when a single-family house in Courtenay went up in flames early Sunday. The fire happened in a house on Raven Road North around 5 a.m., said Fire Chief Don Bardonnex.

No one was home when a single-family house in Courtenay went up in flames early Sunday.

The fire happened in a house on Raven Road North around 5 a.m., said Fire Chief Don Bardonnex.

Fire crews arrived to find about two-thirds of the house engulfed in flames. About 20 firefighters put the fire out quickly, Bardonnex said.

Firefighters found the beds made, and determined no one was home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
