West Shore RCMP and Victoria police worked together to arrest two men and two youths Thursday after a man was assaulted, robbed at gunpoint and his belongings set on fire.

At 6:40 a.m. Thursday, the RCMP received a report about an attack outdoors near Highlands Road and Watkiss Way in View Royal.

The West Shore major crime unit met with the victim, who said he was physically assaulted with a weapon and a long gun was brandished. The victim was robbed and his assailants also tried to set some of his belongings on fire.

The victim told police that although his assailants were wearing disguises, he knew who they were. He was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is expected to recover.

The RCMP tracked the suspects to an apartment building in the 600-block of Admirals Road.

Victoria police secured the apartment building and arrested four people. West Shore RCMP executed a search warrant and found the firearm and other evidence, said Staff. Sgt. Chris Boucher.

Ryan Walker, 32, and Robert Rose, 33, appeared in Western Communities provincial court on Friday. They are charged with robbery with a prohibited firearm, assault with a weapon, concealing their face with intent to commit an offence and arson.

A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were also arrested and face similar charges.
