Homeowner interrupts break-in

A Colwood homeowner interrupted an apparent break-in attempt Sunday night. West Shore RCMP were called about 9:55 p.m. by a resident of Stornaway Drive.

A Colwood homeowner interrupted an apparent break-in attempt Sunday night.

West Shore RCMP were called about 9:55 p.m. by a resident of Stornaway Drive. He told police he went outside after hearing his dogs bark, and saw that the garage door was partially open and a man was standing in the yard, looking through a ground-floor window.

The suspect ran away in the direction of Cairndale Road. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

The man is described as about six-foot-one and possibly in his 30s. He was wearing a baseball cap, a dark top and blue jeans.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has home surveillance video or dash-cam footage recorded in the area between 8 and 10:30 p.m.
