A West Shore RCMP officer who pulled over a Jeep for having extensive passenger-side damage soon discovered the side panel was actually taped and strapped into place.

The passenger-side doors couldn’t be opened.

The Jeep was being driven on Veterans Memorial Parkway about 3:15 p.m. Monday by a 22-year-old Langford woman who didn’t have a driver’s licence.

She said the vehicle had been T-boned a few days before but she had not reported the incident to police.

The woman was given a ticket for not having a licence and an inspection was ordered on the Jeep, which was towed away and taken off the road because of safety concerns.

“If you see an unsafe vehicle on the roadway, report it right away,” said Const. Nancy Saggar. “This vehicle posed a risk for not only the passengers in it but also to other motorists on the road.”

Saggar urged the other vehicle in the collision to contact police.
