Man arrested after reports of person yelling, shoving people in Parksville

Oceanside RCMP arrested a 40-year-old man Monday after receiving several 911 calls about an aggressive person yelling and pushing at display shelves in a B.C. liquor store in Parksville.

The man reportedly ran into the parking lot of Wembley Mall and pushed at least two senior men, then screamed and jumped on vehicle roofs before running away. There were further reports that the man was seen running through yards and area parks.

A witness flagged down police and said he had seen the man enter a field. A suspect was taken into custody without incident on Church Road.

Police are looking to speak to anyone who was assaulted in the parking lot. Contact Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111. — Times Colonist
