Man arrested after theft at Victoria Sikh temple

One man was taken into custody after several religious and ceremonial items were taken from a Sikh temple in Victoria. Police said patrol officers were called to the temple at 1210 Topaz Ave. at 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

One man was taken into custody after several religious and ceremonial items were taken from a Sikh temple in Victoria.

Police said patrol officers were called to the temple at 1210 Topaz Ave. at 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Officers were told a man broke in at 4 a.m. and a number of religious and ceremonial items were taken.

Police obtained a description of the man.

Less than an hour later, officers found and arrested a man in Centennial Square.

All of the items from the temple were recovered.

Police are recommending charges of break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, breach of probation, and weapons possession.
