West Shore RCMP are searching for a man who flipped out at a Wendy’s on Tuesday night when the staff forgot to put mustard on his burger.

The incident happened about 9 p.m. at the restaurant, at 1800 Island Highway in Colwood.

Staff called police to report that a bald man in his 50s with a reddish-brown beard began violently smashing the Plexiglas barrier at the drive-through window after he picked up his order.

Police were told the man was furious because his burger didn’t have mustard. The man got out of his car, came up to the drive-through window and began yelling at staff, said Const. Nancy Saggar. He ripped the Plexiglas off the wall. Before he left, he threw the barrier under another vehicle.

“Staff were thankfully not injured in this encounter, however police are searching for this suspect who is being investigated for mischief and causing a disturbance,” said Saggar.

The man was last seen driving away in a blue or grey Toyota Matrix hatchback. He is described as being of medium build and wearing jeans and a plaid overcoat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Shore RCMP non-emergency line at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. — Times Colonist
