Masked man sought in bank robbery

West Shore RCMP are investigating a Thursday afternoon bank robbery at the Scotiabank on Merchant Way in Langford. A man wearing a blue surgical mask and sunglasses entered the bank brandishing a firearm and demanded money from a teller.

The arrest of the 30-year-old man May 10 followed a search carried out by the West Shore RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit at a residential Langford property on Moyes Road, near Treanor Avenue.

West Shore RCMP are investigating a Thursday afternoon bank robbery at the Scotiabank on Merchant Way in Langford.

A man wearing a blue surgical mask and sunglasses entered the bank brandishing a firearm and demanded money from a teller.

He left with an undisclosed amount of cash, running up Kelly Road toward Jenkins Avenue.

Officers responded within minutes with a police dog, but no one was found.

A firearm was recovered.

The suspect is described as about five-foot-five with a slim build. He was wearing a black tuque, a T-shirt with white graphics on the front, and black shoes with white soles.

He was carrying a black and olive backpack.
