Nanaimo man on off-road motorcycle killed in crash on Highway 4

A 41-year-old Nanaimo man who had been riding an unlicensed, off-road motorcycle on the shoulder of Highway 4 was killed Wednesday in a collision with a car. Oceanside RCMP and other first responders received the report about 11:25 a.m.

A 41-year-old Nanaimo man who had been riding an unlicensed, off-road motorcycle on the shoulder of Highway 4 was killed Wednesday in a collision with a car.

Oceanside RCMP and other first responders received the report about 11:25 a.m. The collision happened near Koen Road, about 10 kilometres west of the junction with Highway 19.

Police said the motorcycle turned suddenly into the path of the car. The car’s driver and lone occupant, a 61-year-old Port Alberni man, was uninjured.

Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
