A driver caught speeding through a 30 kilometre/hour zone at 69 km/h this past weekend told Victoria police he was trying to get his pizza home before it got cold.

He was nabbed in an area near the Cook Street Village.

“Solution?” the police asked via Twitter. “$196 fine, three points on his licence and strong recommendation to use a microwave.”

Just 2 km/h faster, and the driver would have been deemed to be excessively speeding, police said.

That would have meant a $368 fine, a seven-day vehicle impoundment and a “high-risk” driver premium of $461 per year for three years.
