A suspect in the theft of batteries from an Errington logging contractor on Tuesday was foiled by a muddy ditch.
The contractor called police to locate the man, who turned out to be stuck in mud and unable to get out. Police moved in and found several batteries in the back of the truck.
The truck had been reported stolen Monday from French Creek Marina.
Justin Joseph Kloss, 26, is facing two charges of possession of stolen property. His next court appearance is May 7.
