Ross Bay Cemetery was the target of vandals spraying graffiti overnight.

City of Victoria workers found the cemetery’s Sir James Douglas monument, several trees and the main office smeared with illegible graffiti on Thursday morning, said spokesman Sheldon Johnson.

Much of the paint was removed by the afternoon, costing the city an estimated $200, he said.

The incident was reported to Victoria police.
