The City of Nanaimo has introduced an online tool showing voting records for individual council members.

Users can call up a list of motions from a meeting and see how each council member voted. Searchers can also look for motions by typing in keywords, date, meeting type, and the council member’s name or vote.

Sheila Gurrie, the city’s director of legislative services, said the tool includes the voting records back to July 1, 2020. Once the city’s website is upgraded, it will link to corresponding meeting agendas and archived video recordings, she said.

In the past, citizens would have had to search minutes of past meetings, which is far more time consuming.

The new tool is available on the council meetings web page.
