Woman dies after hit and run in Campbell River; police ID suspect driver

A woman who was seriously injured in a Campbell River hit and run has died of her injuries, RCMP say. Friends identified the woman as 59-year-old Kelly Kafka of Woss.

A woman who was seriously injured in a Campbell River hit and run has died of her injuries, RCMP say. Friends identified the woman as 59-year-old Kelly Kafka of Woss.

Kafka had been in a medically induced coma since she was struck by a vehicle in the 1800 block of Island Highway on Feb. 28.

The driver fled the scene, but Campbell River RCMP have since identified the suspect driver and vehicle. No one has been charged, but RCMP are continuing the investigation and expect to submit a report to the Crown within weeks.
