West Vancouver police are investigating after at least eight break-ins at Park Royal’s food court overnight Wednesday.

Police say calls started coming in just before 8 a.m. Thursday when employees realized their staff-only areas had been broken into and thieves had raided their cash floats, mini safes and tip jars.

Police spokesman Const. Jeff Palmer could not say how much money was stolen in total, but at least two safes were found unopened elsewhere in the mall.

Those are now in the hands of forensic specialists and investigators are poring over “extensive” surveillance images from the mall’s security system.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact West Vancouver police.
