Volunteers are invited to take part in a trash mob in Sapperton on Sept. 21. Like the annual cleanup in Queensborough, shown here, volunteers collect a lot of garbage when taking part in the Sapperton cleanup.

Community members are invited to take part in the Sapperton Residents’ Association’s fourth Trash Mob Neighbourhood Cleanup.

Business owners, residents and neighbours are invited to participate in the event on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will meet in Cap’s Bicycle Shop’s parking lot (434A East Columbia St.) before hitting the streets in search of trash.

“In past years, our volunteers have collected dozens of kilograms worth of garbage, recycling and several thousand cigarette butts from the streets of Sapperton,” said a press release about the event. “We are pleased to be sponsored by Neighbourhood Small Grants and the generosity of many of our local merchants who are donating food and prizes for this fun event.”

Sapperton Tap House will be providing hot dogs and drinks for all participants, The Taco Factory will be serving ice cream and Greens and Beans Deli is contributing coffee.
