Don't put those dance shoes away just yet. The Stage Musical Theatre Academy is one of the local businesses that's moving to online offerings in the face of COVID-19.

When you can’t go to music or dance class – well, let the class come to you.

The Stage Musical Theatre Academy has launched an online platform to bring their classes into the homes and yards of its young participants.

The Stage has been offering music, dance and theatre classes for New West families for more than seven years. Up until five weeks ago, The Stage was working out of its downtown studio and satellite locations, but COVID-19 changed all that.

Only days after closing its doors, however, the studio launched its online platform.

“What children need most of all right now is to keep some sense of normalcy and to maintain the connection and joy that their weekly classes bring,” said Stefanie Swinnard, studio owner, in a press release. “So many of our families have expressed such gratitude for making this pivot. It’s been a difficult transition in places, but overall we’re incredibly lucky to have this option available.”

Among the new offerings is a Happy Hour class that runs weekly for four weeks, with a one-hour class from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. that’s designed to give parents a chance to prepare some dinner while the kids settle into their evening.

Families also have a range of other classes to choose from, with musical theatre, dance and music options – from baby and toddler classes for the youngest all the way up to dance classes for teens.
