Three generations of real estate expertise

Can impressive Realtor ® skills be passed down the generations? It certainly seems that way, if you look at the family of Tracey Davies. Her father, Lowell Quesnel, received his Realtor ® licence in 1971 and her mother, Anne, became licensed in 1988.

Can impressive Realtor® skills be passed down the generations? It certainly seems that way, if you look at the family of Tracey Davies. Her father, Lowell Quesnel, received his Realtor® licence in 1971 and her mother, Anne, became licensed in 1988. Tracey got her license in 2004 and now her son, Sean, has joined her business part-time. “Growing up, I remember being proud of driving round town and seeing my parents’ signs,” says Tracey. “Now I’m happy to be carrying on in their footsteps. Their business meant the world to them and their clients all knew that.”

So what kind of skills did her parents pass on to her? “Apart from being organized and knowledgeable, I think being a good Realtor® is about personal commitment,” she says. “When you hire me, you feel important and valued. Buying or selling a house is stressful because it’s not something you do every day. It is something I work at every day. The process can feel overwhelming – there’s so much to sign and understand. My clients know that there’s no such thing as a silly question and that they’ll feel comfortable with their purchase or sale, every step of the way.”

To make this possible, Tracey takes on only a few clients at a time and works with them all personally. Son Sean mostly focuses on marketing. “He’s knowledgeable about social media but we still do mail-outs, newsprint and word of mouth, because we know there are a lot of people who are not online. That allows us to connect to clients in lots of different ways.”

Tracey works with clients buying and selling throughout Metro Vancouver, but she’s a bona fide expert in New Westminster. “I was born, raised, and have worked all my life here,” she says. “I can tell them everything they need to know – what the schools are like or how long it really takes to walk to a park or station, for example. If someone decides they want to make New West their home for the next 25 years, I’m the best person to help them do that.”
