CN operations disrupted as workers walk off job

What happened: More than 3,000 Canadian National Railway conductors and workers walked off the job last night.

Why it matters: Job action will disrupt CN operations and the movement of goods across the country.

After issuing strike notice over the weekend, more than 3,000 unionized workers at Canadian National Railway (CN) walked off the job Monday evening.

Job action comes after seven months of negotiations; five with support from federal mediators.

Teamsters Canada Rail Conference has confirmed it is still in talks with CN and looking to reach a negotiated settlement as soon as possible.
