For the second time in a week, a bank on Sixth Street has been robbed, according to the New Westminster Police Department.

Police reportedly responded to a bank in the 600 block of Sixth Street for a report of a robbery just after 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 5. A suspect allegedly entered the bank and demanded money before fleeing.

Police identified the suspect as 40-year-old Leonard Norgren after reviewing the evidence and arrested the man without incident.

Norgren was charged with one count of robbery, police said.

“Thanks to the cooperation of residents and the work of our officers, this suspect was arrested,” said Sgt. Jeff Scott. “We’re happy no one was injured and this man was arrested without incident.”

It’s the second in a pair of bank robberies along Sixth Street – earlier last week, police reported a robbery arrest involving an airsoft pistol at a 400-block bank.

In that incident, on Monday, Dec. 2, police announced the arrest of 45-year-old Dennis Stjepanovic.
