On behalf of myself and all the board of directors of the Arts Council of New Westminster, along with staff and volunteers, I want to publicly acknowledge the contribution to our organization that past-president Leanne Ewen has made over the last 10 years.

Leanne is that special kind of leader that brings her knowledge and experience as a teacher to every interaction she has with the community. Her efforts guided the Arts Council through many exciting times for the arts in New Westminster and we want to thank her for countless hours and ideas she brought during her time as president.
Beginning as a board member in 2013, Leanne's enthusiasm for the arts has always been evident. She started as engaging and thoughtful board member that dove right in to developing policy and good governance.

Serving as the vice-president of the Arts Council, Leanne also took on the role of chair of the 2014 LitFest New West organizing committee.

Leanne took on the role of President in November 2015, overseeing the first executive director change in over 25 years, providing the leadership to develop two strategic plans for the ACNW, and finding the resources this organization has needed to continue to foster the arts in New Westminster.

Leanne brought forward the concept of "Bringing Community Together Through the Arts" and in our second strategic plan, "Making the Arts Essential." She understood that the arts are so important to the daily lives of each and every member of our community.
As she is an aspiring harpist, we are thrilled that Leanne will have more time for her own creative pursuits and efforts. We wish her great success in her future as the ACNW continues on with a strong foundation she helped build.
