The Burnaby School District will begin reopening playgrounds and hard court areas in a phased approach, beginning June 1, in alignment with the City of Burnaby and Metro Vancouver.

Playgrounds will need to be inspected, signage will be removed and each will re-open as it is ready.

The process is expected to take several days, said the school district.

“As these outdoor facilities cannot be sanitized regularly, the decision to use them is up to individual families,” reads a post on the school district’s website. “Hand washing both before and after using the equipment, and avoiding touching one’s face is advised. Please protect others by maintaining physical distancing and staying home if you are sick.”

All playgrounds and hard courts on school district property were closed in March and are now being reopened in accordance with BC’s Restart Plan.
