Four Burnaby businesses have been named finalists in the Small Business BC Awards, including three making the shortlist for Best Employer.

Small Business BC announced the top-five finalists of the 17th annual Small Business BC Awards on Wednesday, Jan. 22, narrowing a field that included more than 600 total nominations to just 40 businesses in eight categories.

That includes Premier People’s Choice, Best Community Impact, Best Company, Best Employer, Best Immigrant Entrepreneur, Best Innovation, Best Marketer and Best Youth Entrepreneur.

Burnaby’s finalists were almost entirely in the Best Employer category, including Geoscan Subsurface Surveys, a company offering ground penetrating radar services to construction, environmental and property industries; Kleiner Services, a moving and storage company; and Withinus Natural Health, which offers natural health products.

Elevate Ultimate, a business offering ultimate Frisbee programs, was named among the top-five in the Best Youth Entrepreneur category.

The winners in each category will be announced at a gala at the Vancouver Convention Centre on Feb. 21, 2020.
