Letter: Burnaby won't pick up my recycling because it's too 'far' away

This is how a Burnaby resident leaves his recycling. Is it too far from the sidewalk? Contributed photo

The reason for my email is that I have lived at this address for over five years and I had always put the recycling bins in front of the house near the sidewalk, and had no issue.

Lately, last week and this week, I noticed our recycling did not get picked up, our next-door neighbour as well, as the whole block had theirs picked up.

So I called and contacted (the city) and within an hour, I got response back by phone which I appreciate very much for the quick reply, however, the person I spoke to made it seem like it was our fault that the recycling did not get picked up due to the bins are not close enough to the sidewalk.

Enclosed please find the photos of where we placed the bins, which in our opinion was the best spot to place and also had been for the past five years.

This is because if we placed them to the sidewalk, it will create inconvenience to people using this sidewalk as we have a busy bus stop close to our home, day and night, we always had people using to this sidewalk.

My point is that I don't understand why this was no problem before and all of a sudden became such an issue, when the city's worker only needed to take one extra step.
