Letter: I got nailed with a ticket, but this Burnaby sign says otherwise

Editor: In your experience with the City of Burnaby have you or any reader had an issue with getting a ticket for parking longer than three hours outside their residence in Burnaby? I got a fine for over three hours as I thought I was OK to park sinc

I got a fine for over three hours as I thought I was OK to park since I lived there, following this sign less than 100 metres away.

The city keeps telling me the law applies to residents and non-residents alike, however this sign at Royal Oak SkyTrain station says otherwise in my opinion.

The sign is less than 100 metres north of where I parked in front of my condo. The sign, which I used to walk by every day before working from home, states only three-hour parking unless you’re a resident of the block.

I started the dispute process as I thought this would be a slam-dunk win, but the city continues to tell me that being a resident doesn’t matter.

I disagree.
