Third place for STM's Stewart-Barnett

St. Thomas More's Katelyn Stewart-Barnett was a strong third at last week’s B.C. High School cross country championships in Abbotsford.

A New Westminster native, Stewart-Barnett finished the senior girls race in 18:15 minutes, behind champion Madelyn Bonikowsky of LV Rogers (17:39) and Kendra Lewis of Van Tech (18:01).

Stewart-Barnett, who trains with the Royal City Track and Field Club, is in Grade 11. Finishing 17th with a time of 19:35 was STM’s Milena Kalisch, while fellow RCTFC runner Isabella Brunoro, of Burnaby Mountain, placed 28th at 20:03.

In senior boys results, Burnaby Mountain’s Kosta Adzic registered the top local time, finishing 35th in 17:18. The winner, Jaiveer Tiwana of Fleetwood Park, completed the event in 15:44.

Henry Ruckman-Utting of Alpha placed 47th overall, while Moscrop’s Liam Farbridge was 79th. Burnaby Central’s Ryan Goudring came in 90th, while NWSS’ Evan Beckers placed 98th.
