Just over one million protective face masks are being given away by Concord Pacific, a major developer in Burnaby.

Several hundred thousand were presented on Wednesday to three of the municipalities in Metro Vancouver where Concord are developing communities – Richmond, Vancouver, and Burnaby.

Altogether, the City of Burnaby received 100,000 masks and, in addition, 100,000 masks are being given to the Province of B.C.

Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley received the masks on behalf of the city from Matt Meehan, Concord’s senior vice-president, planning.

The remainder will be distributed to Calgary, Seattle, Toronto and North York General Hospital, and to groups and associations like the Squamish Nation and Dragon Boat B.C.

The masks were donated to the city to be use for operational purposes in the restart of community centre programming and for the users of the city’s warming centres.
