The Canadian Chamber of Commerce announced the 62 recipients of $10,000 grants from its Canadian Business Resilience Network Small Business Relief Fund - including Burnaby-based Greenscape Design & Décor.

“Greenscape Design & Decor is so proud and delighted to have been selected as a recipient of a grant from the Business Resilience Network Small Business Relief Fund,” said Corinne Kessel, owner of Greenscape Design & Décor. “We are committed to preserving the livelihood of our team members through creative thinking and focused strategies that will allow us to rebuild in a sustainable, inclusive, and community-minded way. This grant will allow us the opportunity to activate our ideas for growth in impactful and meaningful ways, and we are deeply grateful to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Salesforce for helping community-oriented businesses survive and thrive during this time. Together, we will make a difference.”

More than 1,100 small businesses across Canada applied for the 62 grants available.

The lucky recipients were those that best demonstrated their financial strain, how the business will use the grant to change or innovate, how the change or innovation will sustain the business’s recovery and allow it to prosper, and how the grant will support the role each business plays in their community.

“Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, the Burnaby Board of Trade and the chamber of commerce network has been working tirelessly to support our local business community, advocate on their behalf, and connect them with information and resources,” said Paul Holden, president and CEO of the Burnaby Board of Trade. “The Small Business Relief Fund from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce was just one more way to help Burnaby businesses, and we are thrilled to see Corinne and the Greenscape team receive support to bolster this local business and help them continue to serve our community.”

The fund was managed by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and made possible through the generosity of Salesforce. The funding was designed to help small businesses across the country stay afloat and support their recovery efforts, paying salaries, retrofitting their workplaces and acquiring technology to adapt their business model. Salesforce has also provided grants to small businesses in Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and Australia, in addition to providing other resources.
