The City of Burnaby has set up an online survey for residents to provide their input on the upcoming replacement of the Cameron Recreation Centre and Library.
The project is in the public consultation stage, and the city wants to hear from residents what amenities they want to see in northeast Burnaby.
The city noted the area is quickly growing – particularly around the Lougheed Town Centre, where a slew of large developments have been built or are in the works. With that in mind, the city said the area is in need of a new library, rec centre, and culture and leisure facilities.
“As we plan for the replacement of Cameron Recreation Centre and Library, we want the community to be involved,” said Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley in a news release. “The survey is a great opportunity for residents and future facility users to tell us what matters most as we invest in new amenities.”
Currently, the city is planning a variety of outdoor and indoor spaces, including a library, a pool, a gym, recreational spaces and dedicated youth and seniors’ spaces.
By participating in the survey, residents can help shape which activities are prioritized in the new facility.
