The SFU Community Trust has sent out an advisory that the 39 Signal Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces will be temporarily setting up an antenna and conducting communications training at UniverCity on Saturday, September 21st. This exercise is routine training to respond to potential natural disasters to ensure Canadians receive immediate assistance during a time of need. The intent of the training exercise is to utilize communications assets and figure out where to place key communications assets to successfully establish a communication bubble in the Lower Mainland. Please see below for further details.
WHERE
The east side of Tower Road at the entrance to the parking lot on UniverCity Parcel 33.  Please refer to the map below.
WHEN
Temporary set-up of a removable antenna will occur Saturday, September 21st from approximately 9:00am - 4:00pm.
COMMENTS
The set up work on Saturday September 21st will involve two soldiers quickly setting up an antenna followed by the soldiers removing the antenna immediately. Set up and tear down should take no more than one hour.
SFU says thesoldiers will not have any weapons. They are highly skilled and during the training they will also be providing security around the antenna.
