The playground in our local park has been taped off for some time now, and the apparent rationale is that touching the apparatus is unsanitary - and kids using it might not maintain adequate separation.
That seemed a trifle severe, but perhaps justified. However, there's a fine line between what's reasonable and what's perceived as beyond. The layout in our park has the playground at one end and a basketball hoop at the other.
This morning a city crew showed up and taped offthe hoop.Am I being paranoid in noting a totalitarian trend here? The difference between what's deemed reasonable and what's not may determine whether our response will be the docile acceptance prevailing now, or increasing NIMBY selfishness, likely leading to violence.
