While the City of Burnaby is working on new bylaws to help with the affordability crisis – based on its extensive mayor’s housing task force – things continue to be dire for renters.

PadMapper just released its latest Canadian National Rent Report, which analyzed hundreds of thousands of listings last month to examine rent prices across the 24 largest cities in the country.

Burnaby once again ranked as the third-most expensive rental market in the nation last month, with the prices of one and two bedrooms settling at medians of $1,730 and $2,300, respectively.

Notably, the price of one bedrooms is up 9.5% since this time last year.
