This Indian classical vocalist is coming to perform in Burnaby

Lovers of Indian classical music should mark their calendars for this night at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

Indrani Mukherjee, a renowned Hindustani classical vocalist from Kolkata, is appearing in concert on Sunday, Sept. 22, in an evening of khayal and thumris. She'll be accompanied by Gurdain Singh Rayatt on tabla and Pathan Ilyas GulabKhan on sarangi.

“Indrani’s great artistic temperament and exceptional aesthetic sensibility has left an indelible impression on the minds of her audiences and critics alike,” says a write-up about the show.

The concert, which is scheduled to run from 7 to 10:30 p.m., is for all ages. Tickets are $40 for VIP, or $30 for general admission.

It’s presented by the Pandit Jasraj School of Music Foundation. Mukherjee will also offer music workshops on Sept. 18, 19 and 20 in Burnaby.
