This plant-based food firm is moving its yumminess into Burnaby

Plant-based food – it’s something that came onto my radar at the start of 2019 after my doctor recommended some documentaries on the growing food movement.

I’ve never really been a red-meat dude, but my doctor says that’s not enough – I need to get more plant-based food into my diet.

More and more people are turning to these foods and the company Daiya Foods has been an industry leader in plant-based, dairy-free options.

Now it’s moving into Burnaby with construction of a ginormous 400,000-square-foot facility at 3100 Production Way. The NOW will be getting a sneak-peek tour this coming week so we’ll have more on the facility.

“This new facility will allow Daiya to greatly expand its production of plant-based foods, bring 300+ jobs to the city of Burnaby and create an estimated 100+ new jobs over the next few years,” said a news release.

That’s pretty awesome. We can always use more local jobs for Burnaby residents.

I took a look at the Daiya menu options and it ranges from cheese to cheesecake to dressings to pizza to sauces.

I’ve tried their pizza and it’s really good.
