Editor:

(Friday) morning driving out of Port Moody on Clarke Road and onto Barnet Hwy, I noticed that traffic was considerably worse than it should be for a Friday morning at 730 a.m. Bumper to bumper all the way to the key issue causing this backlog.

Do you want to know what it was?

Two flagging trucks stopped in westbound left lane between Barnet Marine Park and the velodrome (in Burnaby).

This forced all the traffic into the HOV lane, backing up traffic all the way back to Clarke and St. Johns.

That’s it – that’s the only reason.

Why were these flagging trucks just sitting there stopped in the left lane in rush hour for?

No flags. No cones. No workers. Nothing.

Who’s running the traffic department for Burnaby and making these decisions allowing this to happen? And even if there was work requiring flaggers on this part of the Barnet – why is it happening during rush hour?

Start it at 9 or 10 a.m. You do realize that aside from the HOV lane on Barnet there is only one lane for the entire communities of the Tri-Cities to travel westbound to get to Burnaby and Vancouver, right?

Fed up with these stupid decisions affecting Tri-Cities and Burnaby commuters.
