The Ladner Business Association and its amazing sponsors and supporters presents the 15th annual Quilt Walk and Car Show this Sunday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The streets of Ladner Village will be lined up with up to 400 vintage automobiles, while storefront windows will display some 180 quilts.
Entertainment will be from the Lounge Hounds and Ben Klein as Elvis.
The LBA welcomes great food trucks that will be offering everything from burgers and smokies, to curly fries, mini donuts, fresh lemonade and Indian curry.
Vendors will also line the streets selling a variety of clothing, licence plate art, printed leggings and quilting fabrics.
New this year is the 40’s and 50’s Vintage Fashion Show N’ Shine, which replaces the Pin Up Pageant.
This year’s event is open to women, men and couples who are invited to dress up in their vintage clothing and walk throughout the event, meeting and greeting people and will then be in the running for prizes at the end of the show.
“As the only Quilt Walk and Classic Car Show in the Lower Mainland, the Ladner Business Association is excited to bring the entire family together for a fantastic free event in our beautiful community,” said LBA president Jill McKnight. “Make Ladner Village your destination to spend the day enjoying the music, the sights and the experiences at the Quilt Walk and Classic Car Show. This is the perfect day to discover Ladner.”
McKnight said the event would not be possible without the generous support of the 35-plus sponsors who donate money, time, resources and items for the goody bags, which are prepared and handed out to the first 150 entrants.
“Our volunteer committee starts meeting in March and there are 11 people who take on the different events,” added McKnight. “This year the LBA also employed a Canada Summer jobs candidate to provide a valuable work experience. More than 50 volunteers will be donating their time on the day off to make the event a success.”
