Get set to dive into summer.

Starting today (Monday, July 6) Delta's outdoor pools will be reopening to the Delta residents, with some updated procedure to encourage physical distancing.

This year, both the Ladner and North Delta outdoor pools will be available for free advanced bookings through www.DeltaReg.ca or by calling 604-952-3000.

Participants will be able to sign up for length swimming, water walking lanes, and deep water, water running in 45-minute blocks, and family swims in 75-minute blocks at both facilities. Registration opens every Monday for the subsequent week.

To encourage safe physical distancing, Delta is requiring that all registrants follow the new health and safety procedure for using Delta's outdoor pools:

·       Swimmers will line up outside the pool (North Delta by the Social Heart Plaza and in Ladner in front of the building). Respect physical distancing requirements, use hand sanitizer for at least 20 seconds. Once registration is confirmed by staff, swimmers will enter the pool area by following marked directional signs to their designated place, have their cleansing shower and begin their swim.

·       Change rooms will be closed. Pool users are asked to arrive in your bathing attire and have a cleansing shower prior to entering the pool. You will leave your belongings on the designated table/chair or cubby assigned to you. Washrooms will be available.

·       Masks will not be required because of the ability to physically distance.

·       Please do not share equipment between other swimmers. Kickboards and lifejackets will be available and disinfected between each use. All touchpoints, such as shower handles, toilets, sinks, counters, tables and cubbies will be disinfected on a regular basis by maintenance staff.

At the end of the session, all users must promptly follow staff direction so that staff can clean the space before the next swimmers arrive.
