Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society is urging the public and companies not to use rat poison.

The society shared a picture of one of dozens of Barred owls in their care recently to social media today, noting many of them have been hit by cars or have flown into windows.

An owl’s “agility and mental clarity can be affected by rat poison in their system, making them more likely to collide with objects, slower to get out of the way, or outright kill them,” OWL’s Facebook post stated. “We urge the public and companies not to use rat poison, there are no safe types and even when ‘contained’ in a box - the poison travels up the food chain reaching much further than intended.”
