Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society released a bald eagle at Beach Grove Golf Club Friday.

A small crowd gathered as the adult female eagle hopped out of a cage, paused for a few moments then took off flying.

The eagle was at OWL since this summer after it became entangled with another eagle near the 15th hole of the golf club.

Beach Grove member Michele Mason noted one of the raptors flew away and the other needed care and was taken to OWL for rehab.

OWL volunteer Joanne Barbeau said the eagle had puncture wounds and got a few stitches.

Mason also noted golf club members are gearing up for a fundraiser for three groups, OWL, Deltassist and Starfish Pack.
