The Liberals, with a majority of seats, were asked by the governor general to form the government. The party in power`s mandate is to make plans for the country, form committees, make purchases and present bills that are debated by all the members of Parliament. It uses the resources at its disposal, which include money from taxes.

Since the party in power has to hear endless complaints and grumbles from citizens, it is only fair it gets “bragging rights” for the things it is proud of.

I imagine the writer, a self-identified Conservative, wouldn`t have been upset to hear “our government” if it was his Conservative candidate saying it.
