Alongside You association John Bablitz is participating in 150 km fundraiser bike ride on Saturday for Ally Global Foundation.

Alongside You is reaching out beyond its own Ladner community for a terrific cause.

On Saturday, associate John Bablitz will be part of a flagship team partaking in a 150 km fundraiser cycling trek for Ally Global. The foundation works to prevent human trafficking and reaches out to survivors of abuse through local partners in such places as Nepal, Laos and Cambodia. They provide safe homes, education and job training to help survivors work towards healthy and independent futures.

The “Move for Freedom” virtual fundraising event goes beyond cycling with participants doing everything from walking, swimming to a spike ball marathon. More details and now to make donations can be found at: https://allyglobal.kindful.com/moveforfreedom.

Alongside You is serving as a corporate partner.

“Since opening in 2015, we’ve been committed to being more than a counselling office or mental health centre,” explained Alongside You director Andrew Neufeld. “We’ve focused on our impact on the community around us locally, and beyond around the globe. What we do to grow beyond our work to speak into the lives of others in a meaningful way. This is why we’ve partnered with Ally Global for their Move For Freedom event, and why we’re so grateful to have associates like John on our team who share our vision and commitment, and go above and beyond to make an impact.”

Ally Global works with kids who are generally lured out of rural communities under the promise of opportunity (education or employment). Their parents are generally hard working people unaware of the risk, as they lack access to information themselves. Children are then often taken to a capital city and groomed, sometimes involving hormones or substances, after which they generally move into a brothel or another kind of forced sex work. Ally has helped rescue kids as soon as two months after this process, or as long as seven years.
