Delta Hospice hits new low by trying to impose religion on the dying

The Delta Hospice is in the hands of a group claiming to be acting on behalf of the Holy Catholic Church. They have fired veteran volunteers and refused membership to hundreds of Delta residents, including our retired chief of police, who served our community for 20 years. This is not news. We have impotently watched this creeping evil, and at each turn, hoped that somebody could do something.

All members of a Facebook group set up to civilly discuss how best to manage this situation received a letter refusing their membership, with no explanation. They have recruited from their church; those applications were accepted. There has been from the get-go a plan, a campaign to establish Delta Hospice as a faith-based facility with the adoption of the Holy Catholic Church’s Apostle’s Creed.

First, they will hold an emergency meeting (using COVID-19 as cover) that is stacked with their chosen few, who want what they want: the catholic apostle's creed to be the statement that guides the society.Second, they will use this to ram through constitutional changes that qualify them as a religious society, proclaiming its charter protections.

Then most likely at the last minute, when Health Minister Adrian Dix’s one-year runs out, they will apply through the courts to mount a stage by stage, year by year fight to drag this out as long as possible. This is a place where they win, by winning or win by delaying and preventing some cases of MAiD from happening.

Our community needs a list that has the names of everyone that was denied membership. This is not their hospice, it is ours. We need clarity on who applied, who was refused membership and who was accepted.

It’s a new low to use the stressful environment of COVID-19 to impose religion on the dying. The city, its citizens and Dix need to be completely aware of what game is being played here, so we do not become pawns in it.
