Delta rinks headed to Junior Provincials

Tunnel Town and Delta Thistle will be represented later this month in Victoria

Delta will be well-represented at the 2020 B.C. Junior Curling Championships later this month in Victoria.

Playdown qualification events took place over the weekend at three different venues across the province. The B.C. championships are slated for Dec. 28 to Jan. 2.

In the Lower Mainland Playdowns, Team Taylor from Tunnel Town/Royal City and Team Bowles from Delta Thistle/Victoria also locked up spots in Victoria.

Team Taylor features skip Jensen Taylor and her sister Chelsea at lead, along with Tunnel Town’s Keira McCoy at second and Meredith Cole at third. The girls are coached by Chris Summers and Dan Wenszek.

Delta Thistle's Elizabeth Bowles has skipped her rink to provincials. She is joined by clubmate Hailey Dubois (second) and Victoria Curling Club's Kayla Wilson (third) and Sasha Wilson (lead). They are coached by Todd Troyer.

Another Delta Thistle rink headed to the provincial capital is led by standout skip Sarah Daniels. They earned their berth back in early November by topping the standings in the B.C. Junior Curling Tour. Daniels is joined by Sarah Loken, Hannah Lindner and Jordan Henson.

On the junior men’s side, Tunnel Town’s Carpenter won the Lower Mainland “B” event to advance to provincials. The team includes Brayden Carpenter (skip), Connor Deane (third), Mack Ellis (second) and Troy Cowan (lead). Greg Deane is the coach.

It’s an exciting year for B.C. teams with the 2020 Canadian Junior Championships taking place in Langley — Jan. 18-26.
