Former Pacer standout leads SFU to home opening win

Jas Singh scores team-high 21 including decisive basket in the final minute

A former Delta Pacer standout has picked up right where he left off as a key member of the Simon Fraser University men’s basketball team.

Jas Singh poured in a team-high 21 points in SFU’s 77-74 home-opening win over Western Washington on Tuesday in Greater Northwest Athletic Conference play.

In 37 minutes of playing time, Singh connected on nine-of-15 shots including three-of-four from three-point range. He also hauled in eight rebounds.

He scored the winning basket on a contested lay-up with .39 seconds remaining.

The 6-foot-8 junior forward is averaging 19-points per game which is a substantial increase on his average of 11 per contest a year ago.

The DRIVE Basketball Academy product launched his collegiate career at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA before joining SFU to play at the NCAA Division 2 level.

The Clan (6-1 overall) are back in action tonight against Montana State then head to Honolulu for D2 Power Invitational — Dec. 19-21.
