Delta Pacers will be looking for their first BC berth in recent memory at the South Fraser AAA Girls Volleyball Championships, hosted by McRoberts Secondary in Richmond.

Delta Pacers and Sun Devils senior volleyball teams go provincial berth hunting this week at the inaugural South Fraser Volleyball Championships.

The Pacers senior boys squad will be looking to continue its annual run to the showcase event in what is expected to be a highly competitive 12-team tournament.

Delta has been seeded third and have home floor advantage for a probable quarter-final match up against sixth seeded Fleetwood Park on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. DSS will also host a semi-final match on its side of the bracket on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. That could be a potential showdown between Delta and the number two seed Seaquam Seahawks.

Top ranked and defending provincial champion Earl Marriott is heavily favoured on the other side of the draw. The champioships will conclude at Steveston-London on Friday with the fifth place (4 p.m.), third place (6 p.m.) and championship (7:30 p.m.) games.

Meanwhile the Pacers senior girls team is taking aim at its first provincial berth in recent memory when the South Fraser AAA Championships take place at McRoberts Secondary, starting on Tuesday.

As the top team in the Sur-Del Tier One League, Delta received a bye directly to Wednesday’s semi-final at 6 p.m. and will play the winner of Clayton Heights and McMath. The other side of the draw includes the host and the tournament favourite Strikers who have been ranked in the top 10 all season. Two B.C. berths are on the line. The title game goes at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the South Delta Sun Devils are part of what is going to be a highly-competitive South Fraser AAAA Girls Championships.

The seven-team event features six teams that have been ranked in the top 10 at some point during the season.

South Delta is seeded fourth and will take on fifth seed Earl Marriott in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night (6 p.m.) at Semiahmoo Secondary. The host and top seed Totems play the winner on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The tourney concludes with the gold and bronze medal games on Friday, starting at 6 p.m.
