A sixth Delta school has a reported a COVID-19 exposure.
On Sunday night, parents of Sands Secondary students in North Delta received an early notification letter from Fraser Health stating that an individual who was at the school between Oct. 19 and 22, had tested positive.
The letter advised parents on the next steps following the exposure and stated the public health authority has initiated contact tracing to identify any staff and students that need to self-isolate or self-monitor for symptoms as well as continuing to investigate the exposure itself.
Fraser Health will only phone staff and students that have been identified as needing to self-isolate for 14 days from when they were exposed. Letters may be sent to staff and students who will be asked to self-monitor for symptoms.
In the past few weeks, two exposures have been reported at Delta Secondary in Ladner as well as several elementary schools including Hawthorne in Ladner, and Heath, Richardson and Jarvis Traditional in North Delta.
In the Richardson exposure case, Fraser Health directed a whole class of students to stay at home and self-isolate.
With the exposure at Sands, that makes seven cases in six Delta schools.
