Delta police are sending out another message to Tsawwassen residents about the importance of removing all valuables from vehicles following another rash of thefts.

According to DPD, last week saw thieves targeting the 1600-block of 56th St.

“In the six incidents that were reported to Delta police, three windows were smashed to gain access to items such as cash, wallets, passports, garage door openers, and in one case a lamp; one lock was punched out,” said DPD in a post on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon. “In two instances the vehicles were left unsecured, and the suspect took this opportunity to take a passport, seat belt cutter, and a portable handle for a disabled person - thus showing that it doesn't matter what you leave visible in your car, thieves see this as a crime of opportunity.

“A reminder to all residents of Delta to please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle at any time.”
