The South Delta Artists’ Guild has a real treat for art lovers this Saturday (Oct. 17) when it sponsors a one-day sale at Gallery 1710 in Tsawwassen.

“Artfully anonymous… until you buy it” will see 10-by-10-inch original art pieces up for sale in the first annual fundraiser for the guild.

Besides works by talented guild members, some pieces have been donated by internationally-recognized artists. Local marine artist John Horton is one of the artists that has generously donated one of his paintings this year.

The sale offers works in pastels, watercolour, oil and acrylic mediums and within each medium a diversity in styles and subjects.

The works will be hung with the artist signature on the back so buyers will not know the artist’s name until they purchase it.

All paintings are $100 cash.

Doors open at 10 a.m. and buyers are encouraged to come early to see the exhibition in its entirety. The sale will run until 4 p.m.

At the same time, art lovers can take in the guild’s next gallery show, Shadows and Reflections, which runs from Oct. 17 to Nov. 10.

Shadows are an important part of a composition. They direct the eye to the important parts of the painting and add colour from ambient and reflected light.

Adjacent to the South Delta Recreation Centre, Gallery 1710 is open Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
