North Vancouver City Library recently hosted a Four Cups of Tea seminar on tea cultures of different countries. The July 6 event, one of the library’s Small Grants Program offerings on promoting cross-cultural connections, was organized by Rani Dutt and June Patterson, and featured the tea ceremonies of Japan, India, Russia and Iran. Tea types, preparation techniques, serving rituals and the foods to accompany tea were demonstrated and then served to participants as they enjoyed a different take on tea and the hospitality of new cultural connections.
