Penguin Plunge rings in the new year in Deep Cove

The 38th annual Penguin Plunge attracted hundreds to celebrate the new year and new decade with a traditional splash and swim under almost spring-like conditions in the cool waters of North Vancouver’s Deep Cove.

The 38th annual Penguin Plunge attracted hundreds to celebrate the new year and new decade with a traditional splash and swim under almost spring-like conditions in the cool waters of North Vancouver’s Deep Cove. The event, hosted by Deep Cove Kayak and Coast Outdoors, featured live music by Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars and a huge roaring bonfire to warm up swimmers post-plunge. The event is a fundraiser for North Vancouver Station 2 of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, whose members were on hand with their rescue craft.
